Byron Allen Sells 10 Local TV Stations to Gray Media for $171 Million
Byron Allen’s Allen Media Group (AMG) has made a significant move in the local television landscape, announcing the sale of 10 local TV stations to Gray Media in a deal valued at $171 million.

The transaction primarily strengthens Gray Media’s existing portfolio of approximately 180 local stations across 113 markets. The deal will notably expand Gray’s presence into three new markets:
- Columbus-Tupelo, Mississippi
- Terre Haute, Indiana
- West Lafayette, Indiana

The portfolio includes major network affiliates across ABC, NBC, CBS, and Fox:
- WAAY – Huntsville, Alabama
- WSIL – Paducah-Cape Girardeau-Harrisburg

- WCOV – Montgomery, Alabama
- KADN – Lafayette, Louisiana
- WTVA – Columbus-Tupelo, Mississippi

AMG’s Strategic Moves
This sale represents approximately one-third of AMG’s original portfolio of 28 stations, which was put on the market in June. The company continues to maintain significant media assets, including stations in key markets such as Honolulu, Madison, Flint, and Tucson.
Despite recent industry challenges and organizational restructuring, Allen Media Group continues to expand its media presence, notably securing the 12:30 a.m. timeslot on CBS with Byron Allen’s “Comics Unleashed” series.
