According to the recently released list of national candidates for the union’s 2025 elections, two contenders have emerged to fill Drescher’s shoes:
- Sean Astin – A member of Drescher’s 2023 political slate and negotiating committee
- Chuck Slavin – Current SAG-AFTRA New England Local board member
The election process will run from August 13 to September 12, when members will cast their decisive votes.

The star of The Nanny became a prominent public figure during the 118-day actors’ strike, known for her:
