Locarno Film Festival 2025: Industry Awards Winners Announced
The prestigious Locarno Film Festival’s industry strand, Locarno Pro, celebrated excellence in filmmaking by announcing winners across multiple categories during Sunday’s Award Ceremony. The awards recognized outstanding achievements in works-in-progress, co-development initiatives, and heritage restoration.
First Look Awards Highlight Canadian Cinema
This year’s First Look section spotlighted Canadian projects, with an esteemed international jury including Sundance’s Kim Yutani and Berlinale’s Jacqueline Lyanga. Notable winners include:
- Urban Post First Look Award (€50,000): “Nina Roza” by Geneviève Dulude-De Celles
- Music Library & SFX/Acorde Award (€45,000): “Thanks to the Hard Work of the Elephants” by Bryce Hodgson
- Cineground Award (CHF15,000): “Lunar Sway” by Nick Butler
Alliance 4 Development Program Winners
The co-development program recognized several promising projects:
