Rolling Stone Names First Female Co-Editor-in-Chief, Shirley Halperin to Join Leadership Team
In a historic move for music journalism, Shirley Halperin has been appointed as co-editor-in-chief of Rolling Stone, making her the first woman to hold this position in the publication’s 60-year history. Halperin will share leadership duties with Sean Woods, who has been promoted from executive editor to co-editor-in-chief.
New Leadership Structure at Rolling Stone
Effective September 1, Halperin will serve in the dual role of co-editor-in-chief and head of music, dividing her time between New York and Los Angeles. Woods, based in New York headquarters, assumes his new role immediately. Both leaders will collaborate closely with newly appointed CEO Julian Holguin to shape the magazine’s editorial direction.
